A first for Spencer House Gallery and exclusive to us: abstract sculptures in wood.
And it's not any old wood - it's wonderful foraged, recycled and upcycled pieces of chestnut, oak, sapele, pine and more, all beautifully conceived and immaculately constructed by South Cotswold artist Andrew Metcalf.
These are very sustainable artworks, which makes us love them even more: they really celebrate the natural grain, structure and colours of each wood, designed and made by an artist who reveres the material he uses.
The orbs and dynamic waves are in pairs, as you can see, and would sit wonderfully on a dining or drawing room credenza in a contemporary setting. The stands are robust and attractive and fitted with pads to protect furniture.
Each piece is polished and sealed with beeswax and linseed oil.
