South Cotswolds artist Chloe is new to the gallery for autumn and winter 2024 and her Wild Waves series is perfect for our Wild Things winter theme, bringing a graphic contemporary aspect to our show.
The largest of these three pieces, Winter Roller, is a dynamic and exuberant statement painting which captures the ferociousness of the wild Atlantic, based on Chloe's childhood enjoyment of living on the Portugese coast.
"I wanted to create a feeling of the cool winter sun through the water and a glow from the centre. To me, there is nothing more peaceful than watching waves crashing on the shore. Perhaps even more so than the stillness of summer seas. Spending time next to water makes me feel renewed."
The two smaller pieces can operate as a pair or individually and explore different tonal scales to create the vortex of a tight wave rolling in, based on purple or teal hues.
These works will add a modern energy and impetus to any room scheme and look superb on large white walls or in minimalist settings.
ABOUT CHLOE PINHEIRO
Chloe is a Wiltshire-based artist who works with free-flowing movement to create vibrant textured and colourful acrylic pieces inspired by nature.
Using a unique and multi-layered technique, she adds texture and depth to her paintings, giving them a lustrous vivacity.
Much of her work is focused on natural water sources, in particular the geological surroundings and weather patterns that impact the flow of water. By capturing areas of light and shade refracted through the water's surface, she aims to draw the viewer into the uncompromising energy, elegant vortex-like forms and unyielding motion of nature's tidal strength.
The intuitive movement of creating each piece brings Chloe back to the inner tranquillity she feels in reaction to waves crashing on the shore. Working in the flow of each movement, starting from the initial source of power, Chloe uses brushes and palette knives to create the energy and texture.
Her work finds its origins in her teenage years growing up next to the ferocious Atlantic Ocean on Portugal’s southern coast and, later, when she lived along the Lisbon coastline. As an adult she has been equally captivated by rugged and beautiful seascapes of the South-West of England.
She has had a busy few years exhibiting work as part of the Pound Arts Open, live painting as part of UPFEST 2024 and exhibiting in regional galleries, art trails and arts venues, with a particular highlight being a show at The Brick Lane Gallery.
