OUR STORY

Spencer House Gallery, founded in 2022 by Chris Woodcock, enjoys its home in a refurbished Georgian town house in the splendid and historic heart of the popular Cotswold market town of Tetbury.
Just 25 miles from Bath, and easily accessible from London, we figure in Tetbury's growing reputation as a centre of excellence for the arts, complementing the town's existing fame as a celebrated antiques hub.
Chris is committed to selecting and supporting emerging and established contemporary artists, providing them with a platform to air their ideas, values and perspectives on life. In fact, you'll notice some recurring themes in the carefully-curated exhibits and artworks, 'sustainability' and 'equality' among them.
She draws on her professional background in journalism, marketing and running her own international corporate communications and coaching consultancy - as well as over a decade in the art and art history world - to help develop and nurture the excellent and diverse artists with whom she partners.
For buyers, pricing is fair and accessible. Artworks can be purchased at regular exhibitions or, outside opening hours, viewed on this website and by appointment.
"The gallery is proud of its friendly, knowledgeable and client-focused approach. We hope you will visit regularly – meet the artists, enjoy the exhibitions and events and support what we do."

LOCATION, LOCATION,LOCATION
TETBURY AND THE SOUTH COTSWOLDS
Spencer House Gallery is situated in the popular centre of the handsome Georgian market town of Tetbury, in the heart of the South Cotswolds.

The town, the second largest in the Cotswolds, was an important market for Cotswold wool and yarn during the Middle Ages. Today, it is better known for its fine buildings, boutique shops, antiques and contemporary art, great food and its Royal Connections.

Picturesque Nailsworth, Stroud, Malmesbury and Cirencester are in easy driving distance and we are very close to Westonbirt, the National Arboretum and Highgrove, the home of our King and Queen, with its magical gardens.

The cities of Bath and Bristol, both of which have numerous historical and cultural attractions, are about 25 miles away.

Meanwhile, for equestrian sports fans, Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials, Cheltenham Racecourse and Beaufort Polo Club are nearby.

We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and there are many wonderful walks directly from our front door, both around the sights of the town and out into the countryside.

There are often events going on in the town too, not least exhibitions and entertainment at The Goods Shed Arts Centre www.shed-arts.co.uk and the annual street fair to accompany the traditional Woolsack Races on Gumstool Hill www.tetburywoolsack.co.uk
