Tammy's bold, contrasting colour palette adds a contemporary abstract quality to these equine pieces, celebrating the energy and movement of the horse heads, viewed from various angles.

Tammy often paints or draws horses and is fascinated by their sinuous lines and her calling to recreate their spirit and character.

The artist says: "Details matter. Every mark is intentional, yet free. I love how the ink pools here and there and how these sharp lines bring structure to the flow. When I paint or draw animals, I don’t just paint what I see. I paint their energy. Their personality. The bond you share with them. That’s the heart of my work."

The expressive lines of her drawing are left on show and work well with the loose, tache-style laying down of flat colours, all suggesting the gusto and rapid movement involved as the horses rear and toss their necks.

Each image is confidently close-cropped, which heightens the impression of her quick snapshots of fast-moving animals who move in and out of frame.

This white-background duo would work well as a diptych but can also be owned or displayed separately.

  • ABOUT TAMMY WALTERS

Based in Lancashire, where she paints from her home studio, Tammy works mainly in acrylic and ink and with a bold and illustrative style, sometimes  choosing bright neon colours, and never afraid to enjoy vibrant tints and celebrate movement, emotion and energy.

Having pursued a corporate career and having lived in Azerbaijan and Dubai, she is now enjoying a deliberate change of pace and succesfully pursuing her art making.

Her artistic development is strongly influened by her passion for horses and all animals and she takes inspiration from artists including Charles Rennie Mackintosh and contemporary names such as Jo Taylor and Sir Quentin Blake.

Her first, highy successful solo show was in 2022 and her work has sold internationally to private collectors.

"Inspired by the energy, humour, and individuality of animals, I use vibrant colour, movement and line to create art that brings joy and connection. Whether it’s a soulful stare or a playful pose, each piece is designed to make you smile and see animals in a whole new light.

"My biggest honour to date is a yearly memorial commission at Haydock Park Racecourse where, for the last four years, I have been entrusted to produce a piece of horseracing art to present to the winning owners of the Patrick Coyne memorial Race."
