Sue's paintings are full of soft light and colour. They have a natural vibrancy and a delicacy of touch that reflects the artist's joy in observing and delineating fruit forms and their containers, each set at an interesting angle and brightly lit. They have a timeless appeal.

She applies acrylic paint with the gentle washes that one would expect of watercolour and 'frames' her simple but clever compositions in her charactertistic hand-drawn wavy lines, which accentutate their freshness and add a designer's signature flair, alongside her monogram.

Sue is new to the gallery for winter 2023 with her collection of floral and fruit still lifes in various formats and sizes.

Sue graduated in the “Swinging Sixties" from The Royal College of Art and enjoyed 12 successful years as a designer in the West End fashion industry. Highlights of her careeer included the wardrobe for a 20th Century Fox film and retail collections fronted by singer Lulu.

Eventually, Sue diversified into Interior, Craft & Product design and opened a shop just off the Fulham Road in London, along with producing a furnishing textile range which sold internationally.

Two decades on, craving a move out of London, she sold her shop, The Housemade, and moved to the Cotswolds to start a new life as the interior designer and project manager for a successful countrywide property developer, creating beautiful homes, apartments and a grand hotel.

During this time, Sue also co-organised a monthly Decorative Fair, brocante being an ongoing passion.

Today, from her peaceful home studio in the heart of Tetbury, Sue is enthusiastically exploring a new freedom in painting, evolving from her life of disciplined interior and fashion drawing. She now finds great joy in observing and composing flower paintings, still lifes and engaging portraits, freshly representing the images she sees and feels.
