Taisa adores experimenting with colour and pattern, on any scale, to give us still life scenes and combinations of objects that often have an unusual or ironic element to catch the eye – the interesting play of surface patterns and sheens, the backdrop of patterned wallpaper, the small yellow bird on the jug or the van-Gogh-style chair in the background.

Her ability to render different surface textures and to distort perspective also characterise her accomplished work.

This pastel work has a lovely hand-restored frame and mount that are the perfect finishing touch.

  • ABOUT TAISA PAVLOVNA

Taisa (known to her friends as Tania) is a portrait painter (human and animal) and fine artist, based in Warwickshire.

Her painting repertoire is wide and deep – reflecting polished styles and highly accomplished techniques in oils, oil pastels and graphite/charcoal. She masters each subject and medium with infinite care and apparent ease, working across a number of genres: still life, landscapes and portraits.

We love her oil pastel still life work and her characterful oil paintings of dogs. She adores experimenting with perspective and pattern to give us scenes and combinations of objects that often have that quirky, ironic element to catch the eye – the small creature lurking next to the vase, the interesting backdrop of wallpaper or tablecloth.

Reflecting the quality of her work, all her canvases are the best quality Belgian linen.

We're proud to be hosting her first exhibition pieces for some years – a range of  oil pastel still lifes and unframed life drawings.
