In this exuberant, large-scale, dramatic and dynamic oil pastel work, Taisa plays with a limited colour palette, dominated by black and white, and her usual juxtaposition of linear pattern - in this case, lots of pinstripes and decorated striped bands.
 
The only colour highlights, popping out of the monotonal composition, are the red stamens of the full-blown lilies and the foreground dish of lemons.
 
The tipped-up table surface is a trademark of her still life compositions and harks back to late Impressionism.
