Sally has invented and hand-screen-printed an entire Year in Flowers range of themed new floral fabric prints, specially for us. Her technique is to use re-usable paper stencils, fabric inks and her own hand stitches to create unique variable editions on textured cotton fabric.

With a variable edition print most of the image information comes from the plates and is identical, but the artist also intentionally manipulates the printing so that there are minor variations on each one, including, in this case, the stitching.

Professional designer and graphics expert, Sally, revels in pattern-making and colour mixing.

Her eye-catching screen prints often feature exotic birds, small mammals and gorgeous floral designs, printed onto paper or fabric and sometimes turned into beautiful accessories as well as two-dimensional art. She also understands the art of creating intricate repeat patterns.

For 2022, debuting at Spencer House Gallery, she has been working on a new series of prints based on birth month flowers: just like the Zodiac, each of us has a flower to match with our birth month and every bloom has a special meaning, revealing our personality traits. It can also come in very handy when choosing the perfect, perpetual birthday flowers to send someone.

As well as her illustrations for children's books, Sally has worked as a freelance designer on graphics, fashion designs, greetings cards, gift wrap and printed textiles: “I use my commercial experience in the footwear, fashion and accessories industry to produce unique, new and vibrant styles of work.”
