Multi-talented Carole Condé has turned her hand to creating this new series of intimate, small-scale paintings exploring the quiet ritual of cups and saucers through an expressive, colour-led lens.

Each piece is layered with rhythmic dots, playful spots and stripes and confident splashes of pigment, creating a sense of movement and spontaneity.

Though modest in scale, the works carry a vibrant presence — celebrating everyday objects as moments of joy, warmth and visual delight. Designed to bring instant joy, these pieces are perfect for adding a bright, uplifting touch to your space. Small in size, full of personality — and each one completely unique.

Regardless of subject, at the heart of all Carole's work is an underpinning respect and appreciation for fine draughtsmanship and a love of encouraging the viewer to see wonder in the everyday.

This passion for drawing attention to the overlooked or commonplace has resulted in this new body of still life paintings, created specially for our Whitsun 2026 Pride of Place exhibition.

She continues to work across a range of media and styles, happily switching from traditional set-ups, where objects emerge from dark backgrounds, to ones with a brighter, more contemporary feel.

Whatever their mood, all her still life paintings combine light, colour, composition and brushstrokes to depict the beauty and detail in commonplace, domestic items in a way that transcends the object.
